Forest City is a resort-style township built on a reclaimed island at the south-western tip of Johor Bahru, facing Singapore. Accommodation, bus terminal, shops and beach sit in one block, so a month here works without a car.

Ground floor of the residence & facilities inside the township

• Tom n Danny coffee shop — morning coffee, sandwiches, brunch and breakfast menu
• Free facilities for residents — outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and children's playground inside the township

Township bus terminal (2–3 min walk)

• Convenience stores & shops inside — convenience store, small-to-medium grocery, greengrocer, restaurants (mostly Chinese), ATM
• Buses towards Singapore — buses towards the Second Link, RM4 one way
• Return buses to the city malls — RM2–4 one way, 4 round trips a day

Laundry (Dobi)

The family accommodation MEC arranges (Carnelian Tower) has a washing machine (wash and spin) in every unit. There is no dryer in the unit, so for big loads or drying, the 24-hour coin self-service laundry and laundry shops in the retail area are convenient.

Groceries & essentials

• Grocery stores inside the township — large bottled water (5 L / 9.5 L), eggs, rice, instant noodles, basic seasonings, fruit and other settling-in items
• Big supermarket runs — take the shuttle bus to Sunway Big Box, NSK or AEON Mall for bulk groceries

Delivery apps & parcels

• GrabFood / Foodpanda — food and grocery delivery from across Johor Bahru to the residence lobby

Forest City Golf Resort & Korean and Japanese restaurants

The golf course and golf hotel are too far to walk from the accommodation, but the free shuttle bus run by Forest City Resort inside the township (every 15 minutes) takes you there (a different route from the school shuttle). The golf hotel clubhouse has the restaurants you will end up visiting at least once in a month.

Puteri Harbour Quayside (Puteri Cove Quayside)

Restaurants and cafés line the yacht marina. Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbour opens 11:00–24:00 Monday to Thursday and 11:00–01:00 Friday and Saturday, with a live band from 19:00 Tuesday to Sunday. Others include O'Coffee Club Atelier (all-day brunch), Britz 2.0 (British-style bar), Esfera rooftop and Kyoo1945 teppanyaki. Getting to Singapore

Buses towards the Second Link (CIQ) leave the Forest City bus terminal for RM4 one way. For the Medini district, the Causeway Link CW7 bus runs from Singapore's Tuas Link MRT to Mall of Medini; with a lot of luggage, Grab or a car is easier.

Evening travel note — inside the township the free resort shuttle and walking are enough, but there is no public transport out of the township after 7 pm. Book a car in advance for evening outings; getting home by Grab is usually possible.
