Junior English Program
A 1:1-centred, personalised English programme for juniors, running in the regular (off-peak) season. Built on the Cambridge Primary & Lower Secondary curriculum with the Renaissance Reading Programme (MYON & AR) — the same subject content as the holiday Junior Camp.
The junior programme for the regular (off-peak) season. The subject content is identical to the holiday Junior Camp — the same Cambridge Primary & Lower Secondary curriculum — but with fewer students on campus, lessons are shaped around your child's exact level instead of a group's pace.
Basic composition — 4 periods a day
Runs flexibly around 1:1 — groups can be formed depending on numbers and goals. In the holidays (Jul–Aug · Dec–Feb) juniors switch to the camp timetable with group classes and activities.
How MEC Teaches · 1:1 + Group Combined
Every MEC course combines 1:1 and group lessons. Absorbing in 1:1 what you first met in a group is MEC's core difference.
Group lessons
Real interaction and speaking practice with peers at the same level.
1:1 lessons
Targeted work on personal weak points, with pace and progression tuned to you.
Expressions picked up in the group are corrected and internalised 1:1 — this hand-off is what actually gets learners speaking.
Accurate placement via the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT), with progress reviewed every 4 weeks.
Who it's for
Learners aged 5–17 who want to build a solid foundation or improve quickly, and students preparing to enter or settle into an international school. In school holidays it flows naturally into the English Immersion Camp.
What you'll achieve
Learners who need phonics start with phonics; others begin from the Year 1 coursebook and progress grade by grade. 1:1 lessons give close guidance on phonics, grammar and writing, while Renaissance Reading (MYON & AR) data tracks growth.

Diagnose
Beyond the Oxford online placement test, the teacher observes speaking, reading and writing directly in the first one or two lessons.

Strengths and weaknesses are analysed to fix the right coursebook level and a personalised curriculum.

Teach to fit
Lessons then run 1:1 on that curriculum, adjusted continuously as your child progresses.

45-minute lessons · time slots are arranged after consultation. In holiday seasons juniors run on the Junior Camp timetable. On Fridays juniors finish after the morning and are dismissed at 12:15.
In the holidays, it becomes Junior Camp
In July–August and December–February the same subject content expands into the English Immersion Camp — with group classes and activities like robot coding and chess.
